Players MUST be registered in any team they play for. Penalties apply for un-registered or ‘ring in’ players.

Australian Oztag Annual Membership Fee – $15.00

There are no on-going weekly fees involved with Oztag

Can I use an Active Kids Voucher (AKV)?

Yes, you can redeem an Active Kids voucher for the registration cost. Please note you CANNOT use a creative kids voucher for Oztag.

How do I register?

Players can register as part of a team (if 10-12 children want to play together they can submit a whole team) or as an individual player (if they don’t have a team to play in) and be placed into a team by Oztag.

TEAM REGISTRATION:

Online registrations open 1st July. To register a team visit: https://assemble.oztag.com.au/greaterwest

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER REGISTRATION

Players registering as an individual need to fill out and submit the Individual Player Nomination form. The link can be found on the registration page on our website.

What does my Child wear?

Players will need to wear Official Oztag shorts or Oztag Tights to participate. These are what the tags attached to. ‘Home made’ garments are NOT permitted and if worn WILL void a players insurance cover. Males typically wear shorts and females can choose between shorts or tights (personal preference). Shorts $30 and tights $35 can be purchased at short collection days or at the canteen on competition days. These are not found in retail stores like Rebel etc.

All teams are required to be in matching team shirts. Teams can pick any colour / design they like. It doesn’t matter if 2 teams are in the same colour as the tag colour will differentiate the teams. Each team is responsible for organising / arranging their own Team shirts. We have a supplier we can recommend – Sportswear3000 –https://sportswear-3000.myshopify.com/ , however, shirts may be purchased from any supplier.

For individual players who are placed into a team, a shirt colour is nominated for you to wear for your first game. You don’t need to go out and purchase a shirt yet – just wear the closet colour you already have at home. Once you meet the rest of the players in your team you can all decide on a colour / design to wear for the season.

What are the game times?

Game times will depend on team numbers but generally speaking the earliest time slot is 4.10. There may be 4 or 5 timeslots on competition day e.g 4.10, 4.50, 5.30, 6.10 & 6.50 and teams will play at a mixture of these throughout the season. Divisions do not have set times. Teams can request ‘early’ or ‘late’ games and we will do our best to accommodate these, however, we can’t guarantee it every week as we do receive numerous requests in a season.

How long to games run for?

Games typically run for 40 minute timeslots. In some cases, games may only run for 30 minutes timeslots to cater for more time slots enabling more children to play the sport. This is not determined until after registration and team numbers are confirmed for each venue.

Can I make sure my child is placed in the same team as a friend?

When placing individual players into teams, we do our best to make sure friends are placed in the same team. Make sure you list your friends name on your individual player registration form so we know they want to play together. You can list more than one friend.

What we can’t do is add a child to an existing team without the team delegate’s approval. If your child wants to play with a friend who is already in an organised team, you need to check with and get approval from the team delegate first.

Can I make sure my child is placed with his/her sibling?

Yes, siblings can play in the same team. Kids can play ‘up’ an age division but not ‘down’ e.g if you want a 12 year old and 13 year old to play together they would both need to play in the U14’s division. Oztag divisions are offered in 2 year age groups – 6’s, 8’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s, 16’s, 18’s so while your 12 year old qualifies for the 12’s division to play with their sibling they would have to play up in the U14’s division as no U13’s division is offered.

Age divisions are based on the calendar year (in which the competition is played) for example any players turning 9 or 10 years of age in 2025 will be in the 10s Division.

2020 ( turning  5 in 2020) – 6’s

2019  (turning  6 in 2020  – 6’s

2018  (turning  7 in 2020) – 8’s

2017  (turning  8 in 2020) – 8’s

2016 (turning  9 in 2020) – 10’s

2015  (turning 10 in 2020) – 10’s

2014 (turning 11 in 2020) – 12’s

2013  (turning 12 in 2020) – 12’s

2012  (turning 13 in 2020) – 14’s

2011  (turning 14 in 2020) – 14’s

2010  (turning 15 in 2020) – 16’s

2009 (turning 16 in 2020) – 16’s

Are children / teams graded?

As Oztag is a recreational sport with teams made up of friends, they are not graded. Teams are categorised by age division. If you think your team is highly skilled or easily beating the teams in your age division, you can request to move up an age division for more competition. Liverpool Junior Oztag may recommend this to a team, but we can’t force a team to move if they qualify for the age division they registered in.

Does my child need to attend training each week?

No training days are scheduled for Oztag players. The majority of teams do not train at all. It is up to individual teams to arrange their own training days and equipment if they choose to do so.

Who and what is a Delegate?

They are a team contact for Liverpool Junior Oztag. Delegates are not coaches, they are the person Oztag will contact if we need to get a message to the team, this person will then pass the message on to all players in the team. They may help the team by substituting players during the game & usually at the beginning organise shirt colour and team shirts for them. Some teams put too much pressure on the delegate believing they are there to coach the team. Remember they have kindly put their hand up and given up some time to be our point of contact to make life a little easier for the players/parents.

Are parents allowed on the field to help the children who have not played before?

1 person is allowed on the field to help with the U6 and U8 divisions. This person MUST NOT address the referee at all, they are not permitted to talk to or question the referee, not permitted to comment or influence a referee’s decision and if they do so will be asked to leave the field. If they refuse the game will be stopped until they leave the field or even venue if requested to do so.

Who do I ring to advise that my child can’t make a game?

You must ring and advise your team contact / delegate. Do not contact Liverpool Junior Oztag as we will not be able to be pass on the information due to the amount of calls and other responsibilities on the night.
